Sneak Peek at our Silverlight Screencast Site
February 27th, 2009
This week we give Sparkling Client listeners a sneak peek at our new community screencast site. It’s powered by Silverlight, and it’s designed to give a new and super easy way to understand technologies. The best way to understand this is to see the sample video on dynamically loading code into Silverlight.
The Silverlight player (based on the Silverlight 2 Video Player on Codeplex written by Joel Neubeck and Sparkling Client friend Tim Heuer) has support for linking into the video, and it actually displays the important code in html format (where it can be copied). It also has support for a textual view of the video/code.
To see the site, you can go to development-guides.com . It’s redirecting to a subdomain for the moment for SEO reasons. Let us know what you think by using the feedback tab on the side of the site.

Providing time-based markers and copy and paste code snippets with video tutorials running in a web page is very useful and will eventually find its way into the schools to ensure America’s teachers and students with the best tools that can be invented and put to good use.
In an increasingly competitive world where time is of the essence I’m very happy now to observe Microsoft is catching up and will take credit where credit is due for enabling what the W3C standards first began to make possible five years ago.
