This week we interview Jesse Liberty, Captain Silverlight. He works for Microsoft and runs helps run the Silverlight.net site. In this episode he gives us some great resources, compares Silverlight with other technologies, and explains when XAML should be used and when it shouldn’t. He’s a Silverlight tour-de-force.

I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to do this interview, and for your incredibly kind words (though the people who actually do run Silverlight.net, including my boss, might think you exaggerated just a tad!).

It was particularly fun because your show is really taking off, and I look forward to watching its success.

    Thanks again!

Jesse, thanks for the comment. I’ve changed the above to read, “helps run the Silverlight.net site,” though I’m afraid that probably doesn’t capture the magnitude of what you do, but I’m hindered by my lack of wordsmithing ability ;)

Excellent podcast. I assume Microsoft will be presenting some cool Silverlight stuff at the Makers Faire in San Mateo next month.

Is the media player used for your podcast a Wordpress plugin? Is it capable of video similar to podpress? I can’t seem to find any web references to it. Or am I missing the point? Thanks.

Excellent! Great to see a Silverlight-focused podcast, as there is so much to talk about with SL!!

    Thanks for the comments!

I’m not sure if MS will be at the Maker’s Faire. It’d be a shame to miss it ;)

Media players: the default for the site is to use the Silverlight players from Expression Encoder. However, if a user doesn’t have Silverlight installed, we fallback to the ones provided by podpress. In theory, the same principle could be applied to video playback, but you’d have to use the video templates from Encoder.
